The California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/Los Angeles District (LAD) represents the local professional organization of Registered Dietitians (RDs), Diet Technicians-Registered (DTRs), dietetic interns, and nutrition students residing in Los Angeles County. With approximately 50 board positions and over 900 followers, LAD strives to provide members with opportunities to network, obtain Continuing Professional Education Units, volunteer in the community, and promote the dietetic profession.

Karmen Ovsepyan MS RDN
LAD President

Karmen's passion for community nutrition and mentoring students landed her at California State University as a Part Time Faculty and the Assistant Director for the Marilyn Magaram Center for Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics. 


Anet Piridzhanyan, MS, RD
LAD President Elect

Anet Piridzhanyan is a registered dietitian at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she works to enhance employee wellness as well as the nutritional status of the pediatric population. She provides her expertise in community and clinical settings, specializing in childhood obesity and feeding therapy.

David Wiss MS RDN
LAD Sponsorship Co-Chair

David Wiss, MS, RDN is the founder of Nutrition In Recovery, which specializes in: Addictions, Eating Disorders, Mental Health, Body Image, and General Wellness. He has shared his expertise with numerous eating disorder and addiction facilities throughout the greater Los Angeles area.


Christine Kim MS, RD
LAD Treasurer-Elect

Christine Kim is a Los Angeles-based dietitian who has clinical and community experience with patients of various complex medical needs but has a special emphasis in the pediatric and NICU population. She is passionate about helping children thrive and be at their nutritional best.

Dr. Mandy Nezami DrPH
LAD Award and Nominations Co-Chair

Dr. Nezami is a Public Health Nutritionist. Her current research interest is associations of dairy and beverage consumption on overweight and obesity. She has over 17 year of experience working in management, education and leadership.

Michelle D. Katz MS, RD
LAD Treasurer

As a Registered Dietitian, Michelle advocates self-love and acceptance when encouraging clients to make healthy nutritional choices.  She supports the “All Foods Fit” philosophy of eating meaning there are no “good” or “bad” foods because our eating style, just like life, is about variety, moderation, and pleasure.

Eva is a dietetic intern in the University of Houston distance internship program under Dr. Sharon Bode, as well as a graduate of the Mayo Clinic Wellness Coaching program, where she completed her training as a certified wellness coach.
